Mimi's Meadow
(Sleeps max 2 adults)
Mimi's Meadow is in a corner of its very own field, up a short winding path from the car park. You are guaranteed total privacy in your own corner of the meadow. Like all our huts it has its own wood fired hot tub, with plenty of room for two. There is also a fire pit which doubles as a barbeque along with outdoor chairs and a table.
Brand new from October 2020, our three lovingly bespoke hand built Shepherds hut offer an amazing break away from the everyday.
The huts are furnished with great detail, care and attention achieving a luxurious cosy feel.
Each hut has heating , plus a log burner inside, along with an outdoor fire-pit and BBQ plus a log fired hot tub.
With outstanding views over patchwork farmland. Cattle and sheep graze in the distance and Fiona’s rescued Dartmoor ponies Harriet and Tony rest in their paddock.
Begin your day In the sleek and modern shower room, then settle on the sofa and enjoy toast and coffee, whilst enjoying uninterrupted stunning views through open double doors.
In the evening you can switch off and relax in the wood fired hot tub, whilst soaking up the views.
Toast marshmallows on the fire pit (which also doubles as a barbeque) , sip a mug of hot chocolate (or wine !) and watch the beautiful sunsets. After dark (and it really does get dark here!) you can gaze at the stars and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
These large huts are cosy, warm and very welcoming. With a wood burning stove creating a homely atmosphere. There’s a king size bed with crisp white linens and a comfy sofa. The smart kitchen has a fitted cooker ,hob, toaster, refrigerator and Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate maker.
There are three shepherds huts on the farm, but they are well spaced apart and each one is totally screened by hedges and fencing to allow you to relax in total privacy.
On arrival at your hut you can expect to find sachets of Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate drink, tea, coffee sugar and a pint of milk.
Dogs
We do not allow dogs in Mimi's Meadow hut, we allow one small/ medium sized dog in Coopy Corner hut only!
Out and About
Our huts are situated between Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as being a UNESCO World Heritage site for its mining history (click here for more information).
We are therefore perfectly placed to explore both areas , as well as for exploring the rest of Cornwall and visiting Plymouth.
Dogs
We allow 1 (small to medium sized) dog in Coopy Corner hut only (dog to be no larger than a cockapoo- 10kg max) . Please note we do charge £30 per stay- let us know if you will be bringing your pet with you
Places to Visit
There are many places that you can visit while staying with us including:
- Tavistock : Just 7 miles from us, Tavistock is a beautiful and historic town with many restaurants, bars and shops (click here for more information). There is also an excellent Farmers Market on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturday in the month in Bedford Square from 9am to 2pm. Click here for details.
- Plymouth: Is an incredibly historic City with many things to see , including Plymouth Hoe ( where Francis Drake played bowls before defeating the Spanish Armada) and The Barbican Harbour (from where The Mayflower sailed, along with many other historic ships). Click here for more information on Plymouth. You can drive to Plymouth , or it is far more pleasant to take the train there from Calstock down the scenic Tamar Valley Line. You can then get the train back or even better get the ferry from Plymouth to Calstock up the river Tamar, travelling under Brunel's famous railway bridge (click here for details on how to book the round trip - you need to check tide and train times before setting off on your trip).
- Calstock: Is a charming village on the river Tamar. It has a great pub, café and ice cream shop , plus an impressive viaduct which carries the train to Plymouth. You can get the train or ferry to Plymouth from here (see above). From Calstock you can also take a short walk along the river to Cothele - see below.
- Cothele House, gardens and Quay : Cothele is a National Trust owned, Tudor house, with lovely gardens and a historic quay. The quay is a short walk from Calstock and is free to visit , while there is a charge for entering the house and gardens (click here for more information).
- Morwellham Quay: Which was once the largest Copper Ore port in Queen Victoria's British Empire. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fascinating visitor attraction (click here for more information).
- Dartmoor: There are of course many other places to visit in Dartmoor. Click here for the Dartmoor Tourism Guide
- The Beach: Rock and Polzeath beaches on the north coast are our favourites, plus Porthscatho on the south coast.

- Hotel Endsleigh: Is just down the road and is a fabulous place to treat yourself. They are open for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Booking is essential. Click here for their web site.

You will be spoilt for choice for walks in the beautiful Devon and Cornwall countryside:
